About
MY BACKGROUND
My name is Coco Yiyin Song. I am originally from Shanghai, China. I am a senior undergraduate student at Oberlin College and Conservatory. I am a Psychology major with two minors, East Asian Studies and Music & Cognition. During college, I explored various areas in the field of Psychology. I have taken research-intensive courses in cognitive psychology, such as Advanced Methods in Cognitive Psychology with Professor Patricia deWinstanley and Cognitive Electrophysiology with Professor Sara Verosky. In addition, I have discovered my interest in Asian American psychology through courses like Adv Meth in Racism & Asian American Mental Health and Seminar in Asian American Psychology with Professor Danielle Godon-Decoteau. Being interested in psycholinguistics, I conducted a supervised research project on Mandarin speakers’ use of time metaphors in Chinese and English. Beyond the classroom, I am the co-chair of the Oberlin Chinese Student Association, where I organize cultural events and share my culture with the Oberlin community.
